December..
— was everything you’d expect it to be for two working parents and 2 young kids. There were super joyful moments and not near enough minutes to do everything we wanted. This year - Christmas cards were sent but neighbor gifts/treats were not. We added to our outdoor decorations by putting lights inside each window but we didn’t fill our garage planters with anything festive. No snowmen were built but we jumped outside on the trampoline any decent day.
— Callum brings an incredible amount of joy to our family. His speech is really accelerating but he still has the inflection of a young child. He idolizes his sister. His emotions are big- we had a hightop Nike sneaker fly over the pew at church today. But he also still enjoys snuggling. His December “bests” would be: watching the Grinch daily, the song Jingle Bell Rock, the train under the tree, reading Duck and. goose books before bed, shooting basketballs, eating “treats!”, a stuffed animal dog he named after his “favorite” of his cousins’ dogs, wearing belts and boots, and running down to the basement fridge for juice boxes. His pronunciation of “frustrated” will always make us smile. Often if you ask he something he wasn’t expecting he will quickly answer yes/no and then follow it with “actually yes/no” once he’s had a second to process. He refused to sit with the Grinch for a photo at daycare “I don’t like that guy”. And he’s going to help fuel our love of travel “Can we go back to see Pooh? (Disney World) “Can we go to the beach right now? And another big ship?!”
— Elle is visibly aging as she continues through Kindergarten. She dresses more mature without many characters on her clothing and she just chose plain white tennis shoes out of all her options at the store. She had a hard time not passing out gifts immediately but she was very sweet/thoughtful when shopping for her brother. She fought a cold for almost the whole month but made the most of it. She would probably put the following on her December highlight list: driving through the Christmas lights wearing Santa pajamas standing up through the sun roof, listening to Pentatonix (12 Days of Christmas and Mary Did you Know are her favorites - though she also loves Jingle Bell Rock like Cal). Wrapping Christmas presents. Her playroom makeover. Sleeping in the living room on Christmas Eve. Losing her first tooth and getting a glittery dollar from the tooth fairy. Favorite Christmas gifts would be a pretend Guinea pig, acoustic guitar, and playroom makeover. Favorite treat: hot chocolate. Favorite activity: gymnastics (and now watching old Olympic routines on YouTube!)

Krista
