This week..

— I’m not sure what we did, normal life? Feeding children and keeping up with laundry seems like a full-time job! We celebrated T’s Mom’s birthday with an impromptu ice cream cake. We spent hours trying to stay ahead of weeds in the landscaping. We cleaned up the house what feels like thousands of times. Life has been good and busy and lovingly mundane.

— Cal learned the phrase “sissy naughty..” He now loves to point out when she doesn’t respond immediately or if she doesn’t want to immediately share with Cal. Callum wants nothing more than ALL of her attention.

— Elle started gymnastics. We didn’t know that it is in such high demand so when we enrolled her a week after the enrollment period opened - all classes were full. She is thrilled to be in a class now. Her whole week revolves around how long until the next class. She was almost in tears after her first class because it was over. She asked if she could stay longer? Could we do 3 classes a week? She has been a hard worker and I’ve been proud at her perseverance without frustration. She is strong and has some natural talent so we may have many more hours in the gym in our future!

— Cal has a magical enthusiasm about life right now. He’ll be putting around with a good ball in our bedroom and then exclaim “I GOT IT!” It’s announced at volume 10/10 with a slow but excited pitch. He saw an airplane in the sky this week and enthusiastically announced its presence. I told him he could be a pilot one day and he immediately responded “nope”. No further consideration. Ha. He’s also a disgusting 2 yo at times with snot and drool and ear wax. I scooped some wax out of his ear the other day and he immediately grabbed at it asking “Can I eat it?!”.  The picture on today’s post is from when we arrived in Kearney, 45 minutes from home, and Cal had no shoes with him. “Cal, where are your shoes?” “Back home.” he said with a shrug.

— Elle has been VERY excited to take her lunch to school. “then I don’t have to wait in line and can just start eating!” The first day I came into the kitchen to see her scooping corn kernels into a plastic baggy. She counted down the days until Monday when she got to take her lunch. Not sure why it’s such an exciting thing but she’s enjoying it! She also was our first kid to make an accidental purchase on our TV- we all watched the Barbie movie on a random weeknight after Elle rented it for $25. That app now has a pin for purchases :)
