This week..

— I am going to get back on track with blogging! It’s 2am and I’m down in the playroom with Cal who decided at 1am that sleep was over-rated so this will probably just be a brain-dump of recent stories..

— We went to the air show and Elle’s highlight was definitely the shuttle bus. She was especially excited to wear an adult seat belt (her choosing) and she and Cal probably buckle and unbuckled themselves no less than one hundred times. They loved walking by the “BIG PLANES!” and Elle was disappointed the lines were nearly stagnant so we only went inside the helicopter. Elle talked me in to snow cones (T was at a golf fundraiser so I was outnumbered..). The syrup colors were picked over but Elle was forgiving of the mostly red options. Cal spilled his entire cup multiple times and his white shorts were completely soaked. Elle wasn’t impressed by the actual stunt planes (maybe the noise?) and Cal yelled “AIR PANE! DOWWWWN!” while pointing strongly to the ground. He was insistent that the planes should land. So we had a whole shuttle bus to ourselves when we left early..

— Cal has adorable speech right now. He is incredibly expressive and he is especially excited if something is “BIG!!”. BIG is always said with his chin tucked and a deep voice. “BIG TRUCK!” is our absolute favorite. There is a lot of enthusiasm when he asks to be pushed on the swing. “Oh whoa whoa whoa!” and other energetic expressions frequent his conversation. “BIG JUMP! BIG SPLASH!” is how he plays at the pool when he launches himself off the side into your arms. Blue aka “Boo!” is the only color we confidently know.  I think he gets the biggest smiles with “Let me see” and “I NEED that” both which are said as one repetitive cycle “et me see ‘et me see ‘et me see”. Just in the last couple days he’ll sometimes respond quickly with “cuz” as an answer which is funny given the confidence he uses. Cal cannot restrain himself from doing the actions when he hears Wheels on the Bus. And he loudly questions “All done?!” when he hears “Amen” in a church building.. even if it’s the opening prayer. Cal will also pee on the potty! Well.. sometimes. His little potty chair faces Elle when she’s on the regular toilet so there are some pretty funny conversations to witness..

— Elle is incredibly imaginative right now. She often convinces brother to be a guest checking into a hotel or other shenanigans where he is supposed to tag along and play a role. “Sissy” is mostly a good big sister but the two of them can quickly lash out at each other. Elle loves an audience as she freestyle dances but insists “wait! This is the best part!” if she loses your attention for even a second. Her little brain has done a decent job of processing Great Grandpa’s death. She talks about him daily “I wish grandpa didn’t have to die..” “I bet Grandma wishes she had one more day or one more week with Grandpa”. She’s also been good comic relief as she does r quite have the vocabulary for her thoughts “Hey Mom.. you can get back to be when you decide.. but I want to die where you die..” what she meant was she wanted to be buried by me. Ha. She also made a comment “I was really  sad during his funeral.. there was even some water in my eyes!”
