It’s birthday week in our house!
- Cal turned 2 this weekend (though he adamantly corrected everyone that he was turning five and would correct you in escalating volume and intensity if you kept asking!). We were in Omaha for a continuing education opportunity for me so the kids spent the weekend with grandparents and T. They got to enjoy the zoo, the hotel pool, and of course we had a little birthday party. We did take out Chinese and let each kid have a cake with their favorite character on it (Mickey Mouse and Moana). They had fun striking a Mickey piñata in the backyard and they were thrilled with their gifts. Callum got a 3 wheeled scooter and Elle got Lego bricks. Elle negotiated the whole way to the hotel last night that she just wanted to do one build before bedtime. I finally told her while we drove “we aren’t talking about this now” and as we crossed the hotel threshold she immediately asked “can we talk about it now?!”
— Cal has excellent communication as long as his emotions are in-check. At a meal recently he said “Oh no! Mickey fall down!” Speaking of Mickey, his stuffed animals have invaded our bedtime routine and tonight there was no room for Cal on the rocking chair tonight because we included so many toys!
— Elle has Kindergarten round up this week. She understandably gets nervous thinking about Kindergarten but overall she’s in a good head space about it. She spends 70% of the day being an incredible big sister to a Cal and 30% of the day toughening him up for the outside world!
