This week..
— we ended it in Omaha to enjoy the River City Rodeo. Travis got tickets through work and Elle was thrilled. She smushed her feet into her now-too-small pink embroidered western boots and genuinely watched every event. Cal enjoyed playing with the ice left in Mom’s drink and the bucket of popcorn. We did appreciate a family milestone- the kids are old enough that we can feed them entirely off a menu. Cal no longer needs a bag full of pouched apple sauce or bottles! Although it still feels like we’re in the little kid grind (Cal still nurses at night and wakes at least once overnight) we are trying to recognize new milestones and get to more events.
— Elle built a fort in the hallway by her room and slept there on the floor a few nights. She (finally!) went to school without pull-ups and had zero accidents there or at home. One of her prizes for her efforts was a white dress-up dress with a veil. She spent the rest of the evening as a bride insisting Mom take pictures of her before her wedding and organize the event. She stayed in character all night and I captured a few adorable videos.
— Cal overall had a good week. He saw ENT to plan for tubes and for the first time in months didn’t have an ear infection. So no surgery quite yet! He had his first haircut before picture day at daycare where we were told “He didn’t cry! But he also didn’t smile..” He had his first wipeout with blood when he tried to climb on to the patio table and his face hit the side of the table. It didn’t slow him down long and he was back to standing at the top of the slide and giggling non-stop as he wrestled Mom and Dad.
