This week..
-- I had another birthday. We saved the "celebrating" for the weekend because on my actual birthday between work and the church activity I help with - I only had time to scarf dinner in my car and then hurry home to get the kids to bed.
-- Cal is almost always toddling around with a bag of snacks in his hand. This week, the oversized gold fish were his snack of choice. You cannot fill him up! If he is near you, he will backward shuffle until the back of his legs touch you and then plop on your lap. He never turns to walk backwards - just shuffles back into you :) He still has only a few words - but he has a whole variety of outrageous sound effects to quickly tell you his opinion. But watch your tooth brush around him - he's quick to someone how enough reach to grab it off the counter and you won't notice until it's already in his mouth!
-- Elle is almost never “Elle”. She lives in make-believe world and is still shocked that everyone else doesn’t *always* want to play. This week she was most often a teacher, the front desk attendant of a hotel, or a performer of some sort. “Mom! Announce me in! Say presenting Elliotte Stoecker!” We took a sunset walk this week and she also asked insightful questions about death. She has such an inquisitive mind. She also proclaimed that “courage” is one of her new favorite words. Her weakness is her attachment to her thumb sucking “my thumb is my favorite thing in the entire world! It’s just so wonderful!” The dentist said her teeth look okay so far but challenged her to find a substitute by Kindergarten.
