This week..
— we spent most evenings outdoors on bicycle rides or at the pool. We drive just a minute or two in the car to a beautifully paved trail that leads into a wooden campground. Elle has ridden her own bike when we’ve just done the ~1 mile trail but we’ve also put both kids in the bike trailer to get a longer ride. Elle’s attire cracked me up on our most recent ride with her wide hat, Frozen-themed sunglasses, old dance unitard with a T-shirt over so she didn’t have to sunscreen her shoulders, and too-small ballet shoes.
— many of our lifeguards at our neighborhood pool have started moving back to college so sometimes the pool is open only for kids who are present with their families. E were there Saturday night and only one other family was also there. Elle exclaimed “Mom! The lifeguards wouldn’t have to work hard tonight! No kids are on the bottom of the pool that can’t swim and no kids to tell not to run!” I replied by telling Elle that her Aunt used to be a lifeguard “Mom, you’ve told me that SO MANY times”.
— Cal has massive bottom molars trying to erupt so we’ve had very interrupted sleep. He is absolutely adorable and is leaning about the world at an incredible pace. His favorite treats are Hershey Kisses and chocolate protein bars. He gives amazing hugs but he also has bad habits like standing on top of his playslide and pulling out every item in the kitchen within his reach.
