This week—
— well, actually I need to cover 2 weeks because I was on-call last weekend and neglected to post. We spent the weekend of the 4th at the local Country Club’s celebration I was back and forth to the hospital a few times for OB work but the baby delivered in the middle of the night so I was able to watch the fireworks with our family. They had a huge BBQ buffet, an ice cream truck, and many fun inflatable obstacle courses for the kids. We purchased a few fireworks the week before when we were in Omaha for a zoo trip so Elle had already played with sparkler and fountains. She was disappointed we didn’t have a second night of lighting them off ourselves.
— the kids slept poorly off and on which made for a bit of a blur. We added a swing to our backyard where Elle stands and “surfs”. We have also pulled out the inflatable water slides and spent time at the pool. T started adding hand rails to one of the entrances to our house because all 5 doors have steps without support.
— Cal has more recognizable words. “Ball” is very frequent as well as “book” “Mama!” was probably the first we heard consistently. Now he will neigh when we see a horse picture in a book and continues to say “done” after he eats. He is loving taking things out of spaces and replacing them. If Elle leaves a backpack or purse filled with toys - he will absolutely unpack and repack it. He loves shoes and will sometimes bring them to you and stick out a foot even if he is wearing footie pajamas.
— Elle was super quick to learn her new swing. She will sometimes prompt us on the exact compliment she wants “Mom! Say Wow! She is so good at that swing” after I start swinging. And tell me I won a trophy!” She wore panties all day Sunday including to church (one of the few hurdles we hadn’t tried). She is enjoying drawing more than ever so we have a whole stack of pictures that are simply precious to her. But her favorite activity, by far, is to “cook” and set up a table with a bowl of “soup” for us in her playroom.
xo,
Krista
