This week..
— we hosted T’s coworkers for a typical summer BBQ. The kids played nearly non-stop on the inflatable water slide, the adults played lawn games and chatted, there were many coolers of drinks, and the meal was burgers/brats/fruit/pasta salad/baked beans and a freezer of ice cream treats. We purposely kept things simple and it made for an awesome day.
— Cal started this week with a second antibiotic for a stubborn ear infection and a wicked rash. The polka dots covered his face too so it was real dramatic. A few evenings after he started this medicine he couldn’t stop giggling - even to eat. I think he’s finally feeling like himself. He’s had a whole week of good days at daycare and our app has smiling, playful pictures for the first time.
— Elle had an absolute blast at school this week. It was all super hero themed and she could hardly get to bed at night because they would give them a teaser to the next day’s activities. She wants to be the teacher non-stop at home. It’s mostly cute, but it gets old fast when you want to actually complete a task. She’s told me multiple times “hands up! Hands down! Hands up!” which must be an attention-getter when they transition between activities. She’s also told me “when I call your name, you can fly to your spot at the lunch table like an owl. Krista!” She’s ending the week with ANOTHER COLD. She fulof snot and coughing today. The first night surprised us with croup but that part was short lived after a dose of steroids. You can tell she’s been around the block because often her colds are miserable for a few days then gone. Most of the day (medicated) she’s her normal self but she had some obnoxious sneezes today. This girl goes all-in on everything! We’ve been trying to work on “coughing like a princess” because this girl is only capable of 10/10 force
— Since I kept the kids home from church (Cal is good - but it’s a treat for a parent to go to church solo and actually be able to listen!) I put the kids in the bike carrier and we went on a multi-mile bike ride. There is a nice trail by our house around a museum and then into a campground it was 65F and we took lunch boxes of snacks to enjoy at a playground along the way. Elle wore a dance unitard and ballet shoes but she insisted we were pirates at the playground - you just never know what the theme could be! She also played freeze-dance a record number of times. We found one episode on YouTube that gave her a funny pose during each freeze - that was especially fun. These are fun ages to enjoy the summer!
xo,
Krista
