This week..

-- Cal was blessed at church! He was pretty still and quiet during the blessing but Elle decided to start chatting about how much she loves the Children's Museum... So, Mom spent the majority of the blessing working to shhhh a toddler. She loved having the attention of 3 Grandma's at once! She spent all week talking about how she was going to "show them her classroom!" and she was disappointed we didn't stay for Sunday School because we went home to serve lunch to family. She was noticeably tired as we left church, and she can be tricky to get down for a nap, so I turned the opposite way out of the church parking lot to drive for a few extra minutes so she would hopefully fall asleep in the car. Elle immediately asked why I turned this way and I quickly fibbed that I wanted to make sure Gigi-Pap-Pap didn't turn this way by mistake. Elle was completely onboard with this noble cause but then started listing other places in town we should make sure Pap pap didn't accidentally stop. "What if he is splashing in the lake a the park? What if he is at the grocery store? Or IN the grocery store? The golf course?" She wasn't satisfied until she personally eliminated each idea. So instead of 5 extra minutes it was 15 but she did finally close her eyes on the way back to the house. Cal continues to grow great and is hardly found without a smile. We have started talking/dreaming about what he may be like as an older child/adult because his smile seems to be so revealing to his joyful nature. I caved and bought a double stroller but Elle is disappointed because it has a divider between the seats so she can't just turn her head and see Callum. Tonight on a family walk, she decided to walk instead of ride, but would quickly run over to the stroller to soothe Cal when he fussed. When her attention wasn't on Cal, she was commanding Travis "Run Dad! Run!" and you can resist the first suggestion but her enthusiasm is so infectious that before I knew it, half my family was sprinting down the sidewalk until Elle had a side cramp. This stage of life can be a lot of work but it's so fun!
