"Buddddddd! Show Mom your smile!! That's not your smile!!" |
This week..
-- Elle has mastered lying. They say it's a sign of intelligence..? But she can quickly tell you that she already napped or finished a chore or whatever you ask. It's tricky from a parenting stand-point because this is new to us so we often fall for the little lies. We are *this close* to fading out her afternoon nap. As someone who has the kids as a solo-parent, I will have to grieve having that time to relax or get chores done. But hopefully, once we are through the transition period, we reclaim a little more of our evening. This week, Elle was able to spend an evening at the city pool with her best friends and their Dads. We also had multiple adventures with our water table - we added bubble bath once and also made it full of dirt and mud with trucks. She continues to have an incredible imagination - she envisioned a whole gym out on our porch and she recruited me as her "friend" to do a workout with her. She critiqued my pretend pull-ups and corrected me when I did calf raises on the wrong step. She's been cracking me up with her liberal use of "disgusting". "Mom! Look! There is a cobweb over there. It's disgusting!".
-- Cal is almost all smiles. He spends a fair amount of time outdoors in his stroller when sister is playing or Mom & Dad are working in the yard/garden. You can tell his vision has really improved because his head/eyes are on a swivel when you take him on a walk. He does well overnight with just 1-2 wakings. He has transitioned well to daycare with only a little regression in his eat/sleep pattern. The real test will be when I am gone overnight or on a long ER shift and T has to step in with a busy older sister "helping" too.

Krista
