This week..
-- Elle is loving being outdoors. We have to pry her away from daycare and they tell us that she spends "all day outdoors". She often looks under-dressed for the temperature and is almost-always without shoes (even when riding her scooter!). I was gifted a plant that we could add to our landscaping and I offered to Elle and she and Dad could go plant it while I finished the final minutes of diner prep. She immediately replied to the suggestion "YES! We do! We do want to plant it!" and ran to get started. Right now, sunset is reasonable compared to her typical bedtime but we are going to be in TROUBLE trying to get her inside at the end of the day this summer when it stays light longer. Her other favorite activities right now: spotting trash in the neighborhood and insisting we pick it up and carry it home, "washing" dishes, stirring whatever we are cooking, wrestling Dad, telling us to "shhh" because a babydoll is sleeping, and declaring she is hungry at the very end of the day asking for fruit snacks.
-- my work friends threw me a lovely baby shower. As they are all almost all Moms themselves, they mostly gifted diapers and a few cute boy-specific blankets/clothes/toys. Although we have been able to spend a lot of time together this past pandemic-year thanks to work, it felt so good to be able to get together like we would have previously. The count-down is on! We are planning on a induction/delivery in less than 2 weeks!
