This week..
-- ended in Omaha to celebrate Elle's 3rd birthday! She and brother will end up with very similar birthdays so it was nice to be able to focus completely on her ahead of his arrival. We spent Saturday at the zoo (this is the first time Elle remembers being there!). Masks in the humid exhibits, like the Jungle and Creatures of the Night, was not especially comfortable but it otherwise felt pretty normal! At the end, Elle picked out a toy from the gift shop (a small stuffed owl and veterinary kit). Our new toys almost spoiled the plan for her to nap in the car on the way home but thankfully she gave in right before we pulled into the driveway. After nap-time, we had the perfect "party" with a huge purple/pink/unicorn/3 balloon display, purple decorations, and a Peppa Pig cake. She got the perfect gifts for her current age and interests: 3-wheeled scooter, jumping block, Little Tyke washing machine, pretend garden, jewelry box , purple bubbles, and purple clothing! Her final gift was we made-over the closet under the stairs she has deemed "her house" with babydoll bunk beds, a string of twinkle lights, and a purple/pink rug. It should be a nice place for her to have all to herself once her world is invaded by her little brother. We spent the rest of the weekend exploring Gigi's house and her local playgrounds. You know you have something special when there are tears about wanting to stay "a really long time!". We never mastered replying that we are now "three!". The answer is typically "three-four-five-six-seven-eight-nine-ten!". We also were having WAY too much fun to stop and pose for any photos. Maybe later this week we can bribe her into a few more photos to document this age/stage. We are sure loving it!

xo,

Krista
