This week..
-- after the ridiculously frigid temperatures and frozen pipes (that thankfully thawed without incident!) we've had a few sunny 30-40F degree days! Elle put on her snow boots and we had the playground to ourselves yesterday! The snow was often to her knees but it didn't stop her from visiting all of her favorite equipment. T made Elle a snowman that she "didn't really like" but as we were leaving there were tears that she "didn't want him to melt!!" We drove past today and he's still standing but a little crooked - Elle wanted to jump out in her church dress and tights to "fix him!!".
-- Elle and I visited T at work for lunch. Before we drove home, we joined the mall walkers to burn off some energy. It was Elle's first trip to a mall since being an infant. She was thrilled by every gumball machine she spotted and was particularly excited by the quarter-rides they had clustered in one section. We walked into a teen accessory store and Elle was overwhelmed by all the colors and product floor to ceiling "so pretty!". She quickly picked out 2 chapsticks and carried her little shopping bag around the mall the remainder of the trip. Of course, we stopped in their toy store and she let me know "I super like this!"
-- her imagination is amazing! The other night (probably to avoid going to bed) she asked if we could go "fishing". She has a plastic pole for a bathtub game and she took it into our bedroom. She immediately scolded us to "stop!" because we were about to step in "the lake!". She pointed out fish, teeny-tiny crocodiles and "HUGE crocodile!". She decided that Daddy needed to wrestle the crocodile. When she decided she wanted to stand in a different part of the room, she walked across the lake stepping on turtles and duckies! Her mind is amazing.
