This week..
-- we got a train for under our Christmas Tree. Elle is every bit as enamored as we thought she would be. That poor train often goes "very fast mama! very fast!" but so far it has held up to her unintentional abuse. Today was beautiful weather so we spent some time at the playground. I happened to be filming as Elle noticed her shadow and tried repeatedly to detach it from her feet. It was quite puzzling why she could lift her foot and wasn't attached but then it returned when she stepped back on the blacktop. This age is so fun! She also has such an imagination - part of the railing at the playground was her "kitchen", another section her "computer", and then she must have had a large pantry of sorts as she would ask what you wanted her to cook and she would run back and forth gathering ingredients. Unfortunately, her kitchen is always out of french fries and pies! At the end of each "meal" I get dismissed with a very matter-of-fact "go play mom". Elle has a Disney chocolate advent calendar which was been incredibly helpful in the mornings as she has to get dressed before she gets her chocolate! Our mornings have been much more efficient this month! We did have a full-on sobbing meltdown about the idea of Santa coming down our chimney. She noticed sooty foot prints in one of her books and she is now certain she does not want Santa in her fireplace. She reminds us at least a few times daily of this decision. So Daddy spoke with Santa and he's now going to use our front door. She isn't 100% certain she agrees with this idea but it does seem better than the fireplace. What a magical season!
