First, I would like to publicly wish our mothers a very happy Mother's Day! We were spoiled and able to spend some time with each of them today. Such a good day!
Last night, we camped with my family at a neat nature reserve just across the river in Iowa.
T and I beat the crew out there, so we spent some time walking some of the trails around the reserve.

So then I wanted a turn.
I couldn't let T miss out on the fun, so I begged him to take a turn with a trick :)
Our family functions revolve around food - this trip was 3 varieties of brats (original, hawaiian, and apple - all pre-boiled for quicker cooking), foil packets of fresh vegetables, and grilled pineapple with brown sugar for dessert.
Our camping was cut short by the rain.. for the second year in a row! We decided to not tempt the severe-weather-gods again and packed up our gear and headed out early. We completed the morning with a hot breakfast at a diner in town.
T and I came home after breakfast, showered, napped, and then ran off to church. After church, we hurried to Lincoln (everyone assumed we had been told of the family get-together..whoops!) I spent some time outside in the gorgeous sun with the kiddos on the swing set and trampoline. Then we watched the cutest soccer practice/game ever!
We hurried home from Lincoln ahead of the tornados - T loves an excuse to speed! The tornado warning meant we got to spend extra time in our basement with some of our friends who will be moving next week.. so we'll call that a win!
One last thing to document for the week -- Saturday morning we met a few friends from our neighborhood/church for a picnic in the Heartland of America park downtown. The weather was perfect - especially with the mist off the fountain! Many of our friends will be moving this next weekend so it is a very bittersweet time in our neighborhood.
Hope you are all with power and safe from the storms! Have a good week!
