M2- WEEK TWENTY SEVEN

We had another fun and busy week. How about you?

Here are the picture highlights from my iPhone (sorry, many are repeats from Instagram):

a- Neither of us had snow days this week.. but we made to work and school without any problems!
b- We tried a new thai noodle recipe- its going to be in the regular rotation from now on
c- Saturday night we had smoothies with friends- mostly so we could play with their baby (kidding!)
d- Thursday night we were invited over to a friends for a delicious dinner and then they came back to our home for the Suits season finale. We provided an embarrassing quantity of cookies for dessert.
e- Closet catastrophe 2013! Don't worry, it is now reinforced with metal hardware
f- Same baby as picture C, but this time it was my turn to play!

Fun new from this weekend: I received my schedule for my rotations third year. (Some background if you aren't familiar: the first two years of medical school are book work.. then you take a board examination.. finally the last two years are clinical.) School has flown by crazy fast!  I am super excited to get out of the classroom and interacting with real patients- but I am getting more anxious as we get closer. I am going to be expected to know things soon! No longer will it be "choose the best answer provided on this exam".. it will be "combine all of the communication, physical exam, and medical skills you've been introduced to and figure out the answer." Bahhh. Real life! Here is my schedule:

1- Surgery
2- Family Medicine
3- Pediatrics
4- OB/GYN
5- Psychiatry
6- Internal Medicine

We preferenced the order of our rotations and I got one of my favorites. I also have many of my rotations with close friends (which is comforting). The next step is to preference what city in Nebraska I would like to spend my family medicine rotation. Hard choice!

Finally, the last update from the week has to do with church. Many of your probably know that I used to teach the Women's class at church once a month. Starting today, I am no longer doing that job. Instead, I am now in the leadership for that Women's meeting! We have a president, two counselors, and a secretary (I am one of the counselors). The women I am working with are fantastic- we are going to have a blast. It's a huge honor to be trusted with the responsibility to take care of all the women in our area and I am excited for the challenge (knowing that I will learn a lot as we go!) One of my dear friends told me that when it was announced in church, she would have jumped for joy if she was physically able to (she is plagued with weak legs that require crutches for support). Is that not the sweetest comment? I've told you folks, I am surrounded with the most amazing people. When I begin to doubt my ability to do this job well, I am going to feed off the confidence she has in me.

On that note, I hope you all have a fabulous week!

xo,
Krista
