This week has been a little crazier than others. It took me a while to get back into my routine after Spring Break, so I need to catch up a little this coming week. Folks, it may get crazy. BUT- only five-ish weeks of school until SUMMER. This is my last summer before real life, as I say, begins. It's going to be epic. But back to this week...
Monday/Tuesday: We helped some friends of ours pack their Uhaul and clean their townhouse. Sadly, they are the first of many who will be moving out this year. Each year will probably just get harder to watch our friends graduate and move around the country to start their real jobs. But we still feel so blessed to live where we do- where we get to know each of these wonderful families.
Wednesday: I attended two awesome meetings. One was about a Wilderness Medicine rotation you can choose during your fourth year of medical school. It sounded like a blast. You spend a month in Tennessee running around the mountains finding patients planted under waterfalls/rocks- trying to figure out ways to help them with the limited supplies you have. I also attended a student group Wednesday night composed of many different colleges, including law, that meet to discuss things like healthcare reform and other ethical dilemmas. It was especially informative to hear from the law students. I learned a lot.
Thursday: I visited Liberty Elementary to present the program "Ready, Set, Fit!" to a classroom of third graders. We taught them about emotional health, physical fitness, and how to eat balanced meals. I love spending time with kids!
Friday: We went to another friend's townhouse to play games and eat pie. We had a lot of fun getting to know another couple that we hadn't hung out with before. We played Pictionary Man and had to form teams strategically since one of the couples are illustrators.
Saturday/Sunday: This weekend was General Conference so we spent more hours than normal parked in front of the television learning about faith and family. T went with a group of guys to Dinker's for dinner Saturday night before the men's session. They had an ugliest tie contest. T claims he dresses "so fly" that he couldn't play along. But whatdoyaknow, we found a couple ties to pick from. When he went to Dinker's, I went with a group of girls to Orange Leaf (which, IMO, is way better than Red Mango). I nerded out and spent late Saturday night in the anatomy lab. We are studying the brain right now which means a practical on the test like before (i.e. we identify things on human brains). Saturday night in the anatomy lab was actually really quiet and peaceful. I may do that again.
Sunday: Today I also got to celebrate one of my friend's soon-to-be-here baby boy. I met this baby's mom in fifth grade. I am starting to feel old when I find myself thinking things like that. I couldn't be more excited to meet baby Weston after he makes his appearance in July. Congrats again to K&K!
