HOI-- WEEK 20

This week I...
-- started by enjoying this gorgeous fall weather with a camping trip at Indian Caves State Park with my family. It was a quick trip but we still fit in multiple hikes and campfires -- the important stuff! The weather was perfect and the mosquitos were non-existent. Unfortunately, the caves were closed for construction. Now we have a reason to go back!
-- absolutely adored having the week away from work to spend with T. We are now HUGE fans "staycations". We are both super bummed to go back to work this week! We had some lazy mornings (it felt so good to be well-rested!) and ate take out from many of our favorite local restaurants (including Salween Thai and el Aguila). We had a fantastic week!
-- celebrated the birthday of two of my favorite men -- T & my dad! We celebrated in our family's typical style with a large, delicious meal, chatter, and ping pong. T and I celebrated his birthday with lunch w/ his mom at her work then an afternoon showing of The Martian in 3D. It was a great movie!
-- spent an afternoon in Grand Island exploring our soon-to-be hometown. We peeked at a few housing options and were treated to a fabulous steak dinner with T's grandparents! We love Omaha but are looking forward to a change of pace in Grand Island next summer.

M2 SUMMER- WEEK TWO

This week, I felt as if I began to settle into a groove as I studied for boards. Finally. It took a couple days before I was able to actually get through the amount of material that I had on my schedule. Although it has been hard to maintain such an intensity I still really enjoy what I am studying (That is something I don't take for granted because I know that not everyone can say they love what they do).

To shake things up this week, we tried some new recipes (carrot friessweet n spicy cucumbers, sesame noodles to list a few).  We also spent quite a few nights outside hanging with neighbors. It's been beautiful! Speaking of neighbors.. This time of year is bittersweet. This weekend was graduation at Creighton and that means our dear friends starting moving away. It's an exciting time as friends move on to bigger and better things.. But it's still hard to watch! I should have taken a picture of our parking lots for ya'll. It's impressive how many moving vans people find space for!

This is sort of related, since I mentioned moving vans, but we had some drama with T's car this week. The super short version of the story is that his car overheated and completely died as he pulled into school on Tuesday. Thankfully, by "coincidence", my car was finished in half the time we were told, so I was able to rescue him. We did some poking around and when we realized the leak was from the radiator, we thought we were going to spend the weekend car shopping. But whatdoyaknow? T's car + T's Grandpa = an invincible team. Grandpa drove in from Grand Island and fixed T's car for a total of $15. We dodged a huge financial bullet with that one! I don't even want to think about what a mechanic could have charged/scammed us for that one...

Now... I have to ask for your forgiveness. My pictures from this weekend are really crummy. A total blogging fail. Friday we spent the night around the campfire with an awesome group of friends. Well.. part of the night the boys were running around the campground playing "golf".. But the girls and babies were pretty stationary!

Saturday night, we tent camped with my family to celebrate my Mom's birthday. We were pretty chill and again, spent most of the night around the campfire. I was not very interested in staying the night since there were thunderstorms in the forecast. I was convinced that our tent (which has no rain fly!) would be a wet, muddy mess or that a tree branch would fall and tear the canvas of our tent, etc. T ended up making the final call so we stayed the night. I was totally wrong. Well.. it did storm pretty good BUT we were totally dry. I am super impressed at our tent.

Since we were up quite a bit with the storms last night, we've been pretty lazy tonight (we've pretty much just parked it on the couch). We settled in to watch an old James Bond movie and now we are watching the Billboard Music Awards. T is really upset about the pants Bieber and Will.I.Am are rocking. He's so bothered he's making me cry-laugh. Since when has T cared what anyone else wears?! Gotta love that man of mine!

Have a great week!!
