This week..
— we ended the week in Franklin, NE as I again fulfilled my obligation to serve an underserved community. I’m typing this post from a room with a king-sized bed and a bunk bed — our whole family sleeping together. We welcomed the spring weather today with multiple walks outside and playtime in this home’s backyard. You can get cabin-fever in a hurry with an active 10mo who is quick to open the under sink cabinet and try to eat the cleaning supplies or bounce the cabinet doors open and closed or explore the glass lids to the pan set. And he’s probably the easier one! At one point Elle acted out a hockey game. She put a slick fabric on the wood floor, pressed Cal’s barnyard toy repeatedly until it landed on the song it sings, and then sprinted around the living room declaring she was the blue team or the purple team. She would start between the couches and pretend to jump over the gate as she saw the players do last month. T and I simply prayed that she didn’t slip and break and arm or hit her head on the corner of the nearby cabinets. Most of the weekend she kept herself entertained moving her toys from one room to the next and aligning them just so. She packed them all up quickly on Sunday afternoon and declared she wanted to “go on an RV trip!” She meant she wanted to leave immediately! She proceed to list every item we would need to bring as well as the exact layout we needed within the RV. She then decided it would be best if she also had a playroom with a kitchen “in case she wanted to pretend cook!” When we discussed that one problem is that we don’t own an RV or have money to purchase an RV she asked “why don’t we just work more?” I replied that then we would miss out on time together as a family, to which she replied “You can bring me with to work! As long as you have some toys!” Cal is flying through fun milestones as he now can be prompted to clap, wave, or give the doll kisses. He is beginning to tolerate the car a little better which would make us all much more interested in day trips or traveling. We are counting down the hours until we are back in our own home - being away for work sure helps you keep perspective on why you enjoy your home!

Krista
