This week..
-- Cal continues to try new foods. He can now eat whole baby-food puff or yogurt bite. He likes most fruit in a mesh feeder (which is a great tool for kid #2 when you can't always give 100% of your attention while they explore eating new foods). He has started doing a squinty, huffy smile between his previous smiles. He still sings himself to sleep for the last 1-2 minutes of consciousness.
-- Elle is beginning to be content playing by herself for short periods of time. She will rearrange and play with her Barbies or rearrange the toys in her room without need someone completely engaged with her. This is welcomed as Cal becomes more mobile and when chores/meals/life pull us in multiple directions. Off the top of my head, this week she made me laugh when she repeated something that I know has been said to her many times "Mom, can you help me with something? It would be really nice if you wanted to clean up these toys for me." She also randomly exclaimed "Mom! I don't know what I want to be when I grow up! There are so many things! I know I want to be a Mom but I don't know what else!" I should keep better record of these because she had me near-tears with laughter the other day in the car when she scolded me and now I cannot remember what she said.
-- we finally finished exchanging all of the hinges on our interior doors and are awaiting shipment of our last few door knobs. We removed a cracked sink (and the men agreed that we will hire out the instal when the replacement arrives!). Surprise - our hot water heater was leaking and is now brand-new. Our front door now has a doorbell camera (but the chime box still needs upgraded from the current analog version). My dad also made our home totally luxurious when he installed motion sensors on the light switches of both the garage and the laundry room. The next project is repainting a bedroom where we all agree the color is not pleasing to us. Wish us luck - the ceiling is angled and tall!

Krista
