This week..
-- we took Monday off work and spent the day on the lake! We rented a pontoon and cruised around the lake stopping for Elle to explore in the sand or float in the water. It was supposed to be a day to hang with family, and unfortunately, COVID interfered. But we made the best of it anyway!
-- Elle has started say "No! Own my! Own my" if we offer to share, for example, a dessert. She means "I want my own" but it's super cute to hear the words flipped. We've been working on "me" vs "my" and most of the time she is figuring it out! For a while, "who's in this picture?" was answered with "my!". On our almsot-daily-walks, we have been working on stopping at each corner and looking for cars. Even though most days she is in her stroller, she hollers "stop mom!" and let's me know when we can go. For the first few walks, she thought we needed to stop at the corner once we crossed the street too. I'm not sure if she heard one of us or daycare or no one say it - but she will occasionally say as we cross the street "big truck - me - ouchie mama" explaining that she understands that if she were hit by a truck it would hurt her. She has started telling fractured stories like "mama! kitty! surprise me! ooooh! truck! surprise me!" She told this story as we passed a house when a few days earlier there was a stray cat that walked out from under the car when she wasn't expecting it. These stories are always followed by giggles. We still get a lot of cute charades mixed into her stories too. "'prise me" aka surprised me, "scared me" and "bothering me" are my favorite new phrases of hers. "Mama! Nose bothering me! Nose bothering me!" she exclaimed as I pushed her on the swing at the park and her nose was a little stuffy. This age is adorable!
