HO2-- WEEK 53

Oracle - Team USA
This week..
-- T and I got totally hooked on a new sport: when we visited Bermuda last year, the cab drivers would point out the teams and facilities that were in place for the America's Cup. Well, we saw it on the TV guide this week and we are now smitten. Admittedly, the announcers do not do a great job of teaching us newbies the basics of the sport, but we feel like we finally understand the ground rules after watching a few races (and a recap of a previous America's Cup). These aren't your typical sailboats- they are $10 million dollar catamaran's that sail above the water balancing on their hydrofoils ("foils") at speeds as high as 50+ mph. The crew powers the hydraulics with either hand-pedaling and/or bicycles (however the team designed the boat) and have to run from side-to-side throughout the race. It's super interesting. This competition lasts for the next 5 weeks (and the US are two-time defending champions!). Let us know if you catch any races and end up obsessed too!
-- we didn't have perfect Memorial Day weather but T was able to spend an afternoon grilling out with some friends playing frisbee golf and he made it to a charity golf tournament earlier in the week. I slipped back to Omaha for some errands and grabbed one of my favorite salads from Jams (and ran in to two of my favorite people! Love you both!). We're hoping we can catch a couple rays tomorrow to start working on our tans!
