M3-- WEEK THIRTY SIX

I've had a lot of nervous energy this week as my first set of interviews are quickly approaching! I don't have a lot to share about school because it was much of the same from the last few weeks. This will be one of those "snapshot" posts where I just give ya a blurb about a few random things we did this week..

+ One of my favorite ways to cope with stress is to distract myself by cooking! This week we had a new Zupa Toscana soup recipe, an old classic in the slow cooker, and a batch of chocolate chunk cookies:

+ We also had two of the missionaries from church over for dinner which is always great. We love helping them out by feeding them a meal and they always bring good, uplifting conversation. Good times had by all!

+ With school, I had the opportunity to spend time with Community Alliance which is an organization that provides a fabulous set of resources for people in the area with mental illness. I sat in on a group session with the day-program then rode along with a case worker to visit a few clients. We helped one person arrange a cleaning service and do her grocery shopping and another client needed rides to a few appointments. It was really helpful to gain a better understanding of resources that are available in the community and what day-to-day life can be like with a severe mental illness.

+ My parents had a bit of a plumbing issue this year and in the process had to move all of their games from the cabinet. My mom downsized a bit so T and I took this gem home:

+ Today was probably  my favorite activity of the week - a long walk around Lake Zorinsky! I drank a fruit smoothie as we drove across town with our windows down and sun roof open - that is something we haven't done in a while! We are hoping this Spring weather sticks around:

(I made a fun little slideshow with more of the pictures and some music..)

The next few weeks I will be at the inpatient psychiatric unit at UNMC. I'll also be spending time in an outpatient setting and an afternoon interviewing! Wish me luck! I'll happily accept all prayers and good vibes :)

xo,
Krista
