Ramblings about this week

  • This week I spent a few (long) days shadowing some family practice doctors in Bellevue. I met one of the physicians at my new job and asked if I could follow her around. Why her? On first impression she seemed like someone I could be friends with, so I felt super comfortable talking with her about all aspects of her job (what she likes/dislikes.. advice on negotiating contracts.. why she chose her specialty and place of work.. etc). In some ways, these physicians practice a lot like the docs in Syracuse. However, the docs in Bellevue do a lot more OB/GYN and procedures -- especially for being located in Omaha. This week was a really good experience to get me thinking about what I want for the future. If you know me.. you know I am molasses-slow at decisions.. so I am glad to get a head start!
  • Saturday afternoon we saw The Dark Knight Rises at the theater in Midtown (which, if you don't know, is way fun because of their comfy chairs and full menu!). We both loved, loved, loved the movie. If you like action movies, we highly recommend it. (P.S.- If any of you are comic book buffs.. I have a few questions for you!)
  • I officially ended my relationship with Bisquick (if it is on the blog.. it's official!). I used to think that it was a perfect time-saver but then I made my own buttermilk pancakes. I will never go back to a mix. Homemade is just too goodSorry for that randomness. We had the pancakes 3 hours ago but they are still on my mind.

  • We snagged a few minutes one evening on our front bench when the temperature wasn't ten-million degrees. It helped to have a Brazilian Lemonade to sip on. (T once called it the "Brazilian wax stuff" when he couldn't remember the name. Careful folks.. don't be googling that name for the recipe lol)

  • We have very few projects I want to finish before the school year officially commences. Aside from some touch up paint on baseboards and door jams.. the office is what I hope to tackle. I would love to make it a space that doesn't cause instant anxiety upon entering. Right now, it is a total hodgepodge of furniture (black filing cabinet, two different blue print office chairs, two different brown desks, a blue bookshelf, and a floral chair. yikes.) It has been seriously difficult to pull it together. BUT, the furniture is all totally functional.. and free! We are going to try to preform miracles with paint this week.. wish us luck!

Office when we moved in - hahaha
My favorite blues!
  • And one more bit of randomness... T and his friend are on the hunt for a skunk. yuck. We have a  bunch of wildlife behind our house.. including our little black & white friends. I told T he is not allowed back in the house if he gets sprayed until he de-stinks himself. But the boys are having a blast.. so you can't ask for much more (except don't get sprayed! please!)
