The Month of Grattitude

'Tis the season for gratitude.. so this month I am going to center my posts around the things I am most thankful for at the moment.

  • I know I can speak for both of us when I say we feel very privileged to have such fantastic neighbors. We are meeting so many wonderful people! There is such a sense of unity and community in our neighborhood. This past week, a neighbor was trying new recipes and would bring us half each time! This pulled pork and homemade fries were delicious. We had neighbors over for the (not fun) game yesterday, and we are off to another house for dinner tonight.

Dinner...
and lunch the next day!

  • We are very thankful we were given the free backsplash for our kitchen. Although it is all totally material.. making improvements to our house make it feel much more like our home

Travis has begun to take down the tile

As I type this, he has one wall done!

  • We are thankful for second-hand stores that are not only good for our environment, they are great for our student-wallets as well! Travis sanded our future TV stand this past week and the stain is drying right now.

  • And although I express this a lot, I feel so very, very blessed to be studying medicine at UNMC. I feel honored that the admission committee agreed after reviewing my application that I was worthy of a spot in the class of 2015. It still feels like a dream. It is a nice reminder, when the classes get tough, and my endurance wears thin, that the committee took a chance on me. Many other people wanted this spot, so I should continue to work to earn it. I cannot wait to practice medicine and be able to bless so many lives! I feel so fortunate that I was able to identify early the career I wanted to pursue. I can't believe that I am able to do what I enjoy most everyday

So sorry for the short post, but I am teaching the women next Sunday at church.. so I need to study up! Hope you all have a fantastic week! Love you!
