Week Three

This may turn out to be a dull update...but boring isn't always a bad thing in life!

These next three weeks of medical school are anatomy over the head and neck. Specifically this week we studied the skull, facial muscles, and the relevant nerves/arteries/veins. That means we got to dissect the brain and eyes. It's pretty spectacular to have such an intimate experience of those organs. Not too many people can say they've held a human brain! I feel so blessed each day that I have been given this opportunity. At school this week we also learned how to give injections (vaccinations/medications delivered as a shot) and take vitals. It was nice to feel like an expert as my friends struggled to learn how to take blood pressures :) I knew hypertension would benefit me somehow!

At the home front...

Travis hung our new bedroom curtains (big thanks to Evan!):

BEFORE:

DURING/AFTER:

(Because we are cheap) we put them up with a curtain rod the previous owners left us. So, the rod is a little shorter than I would have chosen, but free is fantastic! [Sorry for the atrocious during/after pictures. In the moment I always feel like my cell phone will take a sufficient picture...but lets be real... even if it had been daylight this picture would be crummy.]

Our living room project is also coming along. We received this special package this week:

But we have priorities...so we didn't crack it open until finishing an after-work-snack (peanut butter brownie ice cream):

Here is Travis modeling where our new electric fireplace will hang! We have been brainstorming the best way to execute the installation/decoration...we will keep you updated!

As for today, we had a fabulous morning at church (as always). A couple guys stopped over to chat after church. Then Travis grilled us some steaks for lunch (delicious!) while I made some cinnamon baked apples to go with. I am off at 4:30 to visit a couple girls, then we have a 1-year-old birthday grill out and dinner+the cowboy game at a friends. We are packing it in!

What was your highlight of the week??
