This week..
-- ended with a call shift so the weekend flew by! My mom & dad came to visit and enjoyed some of the local celebration Swedish Days.  They took Elle in her wagon downtown to the BBQ competition and watched the parade from our front porch with friends. The boys also fit in a round of golf & ping pong and we snuck in one round of our new game Molkky right before they left to drive home. There is nothing better than sharing your home with your family and just hanging out. I didn't do a very good job of making a celebration out of father's day other than remaking on of T's favorite HelloFresh meals and a peach pie. Elle and I picked out a new ladder as we donated the few T had when we moved (they were thick with sticky oil-based stain from his deck-business days and not exactly sturdy anymore!). Elle and I are so glad to have T in our lives!!

Life this minute: Elle napping with Dad as he watched the US Open on Father's Day
Elle's first parade - enjoyed from our front porch swing!
Elle's favorite place - outdoors in the shade!

This week..
-- miss Elle continues to grow and now weighs 10 lbs 8oz at 5 weeks old (that's almost double her birth weight!) We made the first adjustment to her carseat removing the "low birth-weight" pillow that used to be behind her back and sized up from newborn diapers to size one. She is also quickly outgrowing the "newborn" size clothing we have. She is still as cute as can be! We spent more time this week walking laps in our house or out on the front porch swing as she is awake more but not necessarily happy about it! She is most consistently soothed by anytime spent outdoors.
-- we've been loving one of the parks in-town! We sneak over there before the heat of the day and walk along the lake and sometimes spend some time in the grass under a tree. There are many playgrounds and a splash pad within the same area that I'm sure we will frequent in the future!
-- this weekend was Sweedish Days in-town. There were fun events all weekend but it was just too hot for us to take part. We did enjoy the parade that comes down our street! Elle's first!
-- we celebrated T's first Father's Day! We kept things low-key (#newborn) and cooked a meal with some of his favorite flavors (chicken rellenos & raspberry cream pie). "Elle" gifted him a new trimmer for the yard that is cordless so he no longer has to strategically use all 5 outdoor outlets to freshen up the edges of the yard.
-- T also rented a tiller and made serious progress on our backyard this weekend. He brought in dirt to feather the drop-offs by the new concrete and planted seed earlier this summer. Unfortunately, the weeds won in a large section of the yard and it really wasn't as level as we would have liked. He spent a morning tilling the yard and future flower beds and replanting seed. Fingers crossed the grass takes better this time! He also laid weed barrier and edging for our future flower beds around the garage. Slowly but surely we will landscape this place!

M3-- WEEK FIFTY

T and I feel so blessed to have so many amazing men in our families!

We started our Father's day in Lincoln for a combo F-day/Birthday celebration:
^^ This gem of grandpa surfaced today ^^
C insightfully said he wouldn't want to be that guy on the far end!
[1] an action shot of the family
[2] a finger-in-icing candid
[3] all tuckered out after trampoline fun

After Lincoln, we celebrated Father's day with my family:
The weather was BEAUTIFUL!

Our functions ALWAYS revolve around food
Dad smoked ribs & chicken, E made amazing potatoes, and we supplied homemade ice cream
T and I finally won a few games of Pickle Ball!
This week will be one of my busiest in medical school due to long work hours and a big test on Saturday. The test will be 8 "patients" to interview, examine, and plan their workup. Included in those 8 cases will be two "high-impact" cases which are things that are dangerous to miss. Any error on those two cases is an automatic fail. There is a lot of review when the cases could be any adult disease/condition! Wish me luck! Enjoy your week!

Father's Day 2012

Thank you, thank you, thank you to all the wonderful men who have made such a big impact on our lives.  You have helped mold us into the people we are today! A HUGE thanks for supporting T & I at all of our games/recitals/whatever growing up. You always make us feel so loved.

Because of you talented men, our house/cars/lives are much less of a mess (just keepin' it real here).

You help make life so much fun!

You even make us laugh when you aren't around.. oh say.. when someone is looking for a serious picture on her computer to blog about her awesome dad and as she is skimming through pictures she realizes how often you steal her camera to take silly pictures of yourself. Like this one:

I love you Dad! Thanks for all the laughs and great memories!

(Thanks to every dad/grandpa/uncle/neighbor/teacher/friend(of the male variety) on this planet. Everyone makes a difference!)
