If I can stretch a medical school week into one post, then I need about 13 to sum up this last one. I'm overwhelmed just thinking about it. This week began with Christmas Eve with one family, Christmas day with the next (both of those with 50+ pictures), my brother celebrated a birthday today, I've completed a few projects around the house, I'm in the middle of a few more, throw in a few social events and a few recipes...
whoa.
So, for this week we are going to have to just skim some highlights for now.
When I reflect on our Christmas celebrations I think of amazing family, fantastic laughter, good eats, and poor T feeling under the weather. Our families were beyond generous with gifts (they always are!) My Christmas list reflected my increasing age: organizational things for the shower and pantry, toilet seats, many basic kitchen gadgets, and dress clothes. Although my list was probably less-than-thrilling to shop for, I couldn't be more excited to have each of these things. Here is a lamp we received to light our basement stairs. Clean lines and a simple design = my style.
T was down-and-out for most of the holiday (poor guy!). So, our celebration was a little limited. We only made it to Grand Island for a few hours and then we headed home. However, T still had some energy for one of his biggest fans:
Christmas day we celebrated with my family. We played minute-to-win-it games and ate multiple meals:

Then today we celebrated Ryan's birthday with fondue. It was quite the spread:
Main course (jerk or vegetable broth):
+ chicken
+ steak
+ lobster ravioli
+ sausage ravioli
+ chicken ravioli
Cheese:
+ broccoli
+ cauliflower
+ mushrooms
+ french bread
Chocolate:
+ angel food cake
+ apples
+ bananas
+ mandarin oranges
+ rice krispie treats
+ pringles
Then for a second dessert we had (by request) chocolate raspberry cake:
Ryan is an adult in the state of Nebraska- yay! |
It was quite the week! I didn't even mention the epic number of movies I watched: Lord of the Rings I, II, and III, Les Miserables (amazing, amazing, amazing), and Silver Linings Playbook (cute but emotionally exhausting). Soon I'll show you the progress I am making in them basement and possibly a bedroom makeover for T's mom. It's going to be a busy last week of break! Can I just say that I am so thankful to be a student and have these few weeks off. I know the the world keeps spinning in the real world and I am so glad that I have a few more spoiled years with this time off to relax.
I hope you all had a safe and fun holiday! Reply to this post, send an email, or a facebook message, or whatever and let us know how you celebrated!
PS- here is our first Christmas Card!
Isn't T such a good sport! Gotta love that man of mine!
